LDAP Sync Rate/Base DN - UI Options

Hi

It would be ideal to help manage performance within Zammad if whilst configuring the LDAP integration, the following options were added:

  • LDAP Sync Frequency (i.e. 1 hour, 6 hours, 12, hours, 24 hours etc) to choose how often the LDAP server is queried across the network.
  • The option to add a base DN other than the root of the tree to limit the scope of objects scanned.

This is something that I’ve seen in other LDAP enabled applications such as PaperCut. Being able to adjust this reasonably resource intensive task (in large AD environments for example) would be very beneficial in reducing server loads, sync times, and network traffic as well as aid with application performance.

Here’s hoping

I second all of this! With 430886 users in our AD I’ve rarely had a successful sync…

Really it would be way more efficient to just have zammad query ldap rather than sync.

this one might also help, they were both in my mind when I read your request
