View Plain text of e-mails

All mails and notes appear with interpretation and linkifying of urls and hostnames in the ticket, which can be undesirable in some cases.

It is possible to download the raw .eml file of the mail sent to/from zammad, but a simple raw text view (in monospaced font) of the e-mail and/ the option to view the e-mail or note could be helpful and relatively easy to implement (I think). Viewing the .eml in a different window, instead of saving to disk (which is my browser’s default solution) could work as well.

A feature request already exists for sending e-mails in plain text already exists, which seems related.

Cases where this feature would help:

  • viewing a message with commands containing e-mail addresses or hostnames to be copied for use in a live situation (or test)
  • viewing preformatted plain text with meaningful layout (code, ascii images, tables)

Thanks for reading,

/Simon

Please reduce your feature request to what’s not included in Support for choosing between text/plain and HTML emails

Or I’ll have to merge it as a duplicate, because duplicate requests are not helping a feature to come overview wise etc.

I think this feature request is completely independent from the implementation of that ticket, because my request is purely about viewing e-mails and notes, not about sending.

E-mails are often sent with both plain-text and html versions of the same message, viewing the plain text version is one part of the implementation.
Viewing the html source code or a plain-text representation of the html-part is possibly a separate, but related issue.

Another example is when someone sends a text file or a script or csv or whatever. I think it would save a lot of hassle if Zammad tries to let me view the attached file in the browser. I don’t want to save a simple text file someone sends to my laptop and then look it up to view it.
