Single-click child ticket creation

This was previously requested by another user in 2019. I believe the use case for this feature is as strong as ever.

The common scenario is that a ticket comes in that requires different sub-tasks that often need to be completed by other agents. An example is a new user request. Parent ticket comes in, the ICT department do their bit, and then child tickets are created for other areas (systems, finance, etc) to do theirs.

Current work around is to manually create ticket, and link parent. It’s a very clumsy process requiring many clicks where it feels like this is a common enough scenario that there should exist a one-click solution.

Here’s how I would roughly expect a “one-click” solution to work:

  1. User clicks “Create child ticket” (perhaps next to existing “Add link” action in the right pane.
  2. The “Create ticket screen” is opened with relevant information pre-filled. A non-editable “Parent field” should indicate that we’re creating a child ticket for the listed parent.
  3. User submits new ticket form. Ticket is created and automatically linked to parent.

Would like to hear form other people who’d also find such a feature handy.

Why create a Duplicate of it? It is not denied, just suto closed. So still standing.

I’m not sure if we’d use it yet, but when we expand, I can see us encountering this scenario and wanting it to be easier to do with fewer clicks. I am happy to lend my voice (as insignificant as it is) to support this.

As a workaround, you can create a macro which is calling a webhook on the own system (but don’t know if you will have all needed information available).

Because it was closed with most recent discussion 6 years ago. I wanted to re-ignite discussion and share how I’d imagine such a single-click solution to work, hoping that maybe a member of the core team would be see this and be tempted to implement what should hopefully be a relatively straight-forward implementation.
