Zammad 4.1 update

Infos:

  • Used Zammad version: 4.1
  • Used Zammad installation type: deb package
  • Operating system: Ubuntu 18.04
  • Browser + version: many

Expected behavior:

  • update the system according to your documentation.
No major version should be skipped

Actual behavior:

  • repository only has zammad 6.x version available

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • have an old zammad 4.1 server and try to update zammad

I have a Zammad 4.1 server (Ubuntu 18.04) and I want to upgrade it to the latest version (including Ubuntu 22.04). According to the documentation, no major release should be missed.
https://docs.zammad.org/en/latest/install/update.html#updating-zammad

Unfortunately I can’t find a Zammad 5.x version. The repository only offers me Zammad 6.x and I can’t find any Zammad 5.x deb packages on the internet either.

Where can I download a deb version of Zammad 5.x?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards
Basti

I believe that the combination of the following two videos should help you through:

First about switching branches (mainly stable to stable-5 something, then 6.x, …) - at least partly.

Then the dist upgrade path. The video handles Debian, but it’s imho similar for Ubuntu. Upgrading to 22.04 after being on Zammad 6.0 or 6.1 won’t hurt.

Mainly this gist is relevant for you:

Thanks a lot for the infos.
The only needed info was that i can set the stable repo to stable-5.0 channel.

If anyone else is in the same situation as me. The update path should look like this, as there are db migration scripts wich don’t work if you skip some version.
4.1 → 5.0 → 5.4 → 6.x

Thanks again for the informations.
