Multi-Selection fields

A customer of us would like to be able to create Multi-Selection objects.
The reason for this is the -currently- missing functionality to have “OR” conditions within e.g. Overviews.

When you are able to select multiple values (like you can do for groups), you are way more flexible with triggering and overviews.

I’d prefer the OR conditions though but that’d be a nice solution 'til then.

I went through this thread and checked where this landed, so some good news:

  1. Multi-Selection fields exist since Zammad 5.1 (released 14.03.2022). In the Object Manager you can now create a Multiple selection field (select one or more out of pre-defined values) and a Multiple tree selection field (hierarchical, up to 6 levels, multiple values) – exactly the “Multi-Selection objects” this thread was asking for.

  2. OR conditions in Overviews and Triggers – the original motivation for this thread – are now possible via Expert Mode in the condition builder (“Conditions for affected objects”): you get logic blocks with Match any (OR), Match all (AND) and Match none (NOT) operators, nested up to three levels deep. Available since the 6.x line.

With both pieces in place, the workaround this thread was requesting (multi-select fields to emulate OR logic) is no longer a workaround – it works natively. From a user’s perspective I’d say this feature request is shipped, which is why I’d move this thread to Completed Features. Please correct me if I missed anything!
