Title: Multi-Select toggle for External Data Source Field Objects

  1. What is your original issue/pain point you want to solve?
    Currently, External Data Source Field Objects are only single-select. In order to replicate multi-select functionality within Zammad, multiple objects of this type are required, along with the workflows to show these when required.

  2. Which are one or two concrete situations where this problem hurts the most?
    When feeding Zammad with large amounts of data, populating the traditional select/tree-select objects with tens of thousands of items results in slow page loading times.

  3. Why is it not solvable with the Zammad standard?
    Existing object does not have a multi-select variant or toggle.

  4. What is your expectation/what do you want to achieve?
    By adding a toggle to External Data Source Field Objects, admins could choose their default behavior.
    The additional advantage of a toggle rather than an additional object type could be that the toggle could be switched with a core workflow, so the same object could be used for both single-select and multi-select.
