Email retry/resent

Infos:

  • Used Zammad version: 5.1.x
  • Used Zammad installation type: source
  • Operating system: Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS
  • Browser + version: Chrom Version 103.0.5060.66 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Expected behavior:

  • Some way to retry failed emails to customers.

Actual behavior:

  • I could not find a way

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Temporarily the SMTP breaks for whatever reason, emails fail.

Hello All,

I am looking for some advice.
Today our SMTP broke in Zammad for any reason but it is fixed now.
During this 20min outage we had several tickets that were updated but the email failed to be sent to the customer because SMTP was not working, understandable.

However I cannot find a way to resent or retry these emails, sure the Agent can send it again, but it is messy and they have to manually format the message. That to me is ok if 1 or 2 agents are affected.
But what if for whatever reason I had 100 messages failed, surely it cannot be expected for the whole Customer Service group to resent everything.

Is there anything I can do or can someone advise me, please?

Thanks
Robert

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks
Robert

I got around this by using a local MTA instead of direct SMTP delivery.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the info, it has given me some food for thought for sure.
But in this instance, i found the email settings were temporarily misconfigured in Zammad, so an MTA probably would not have helped, the email did not even leave the Zammad system.

Thanks
Robert

BTW this is how it shows in Zammad’s ticket.

As to this error message: When using Sendmail as delivery method, the mail would have left Zammad.
