Disregard. LDAP issue. Latest upgrade removes all agents

Infos:

  • Used Zammad version: 5.3.1-1676490295.d48e098b.bionic
  • Used Zammad installation type: package
  • Operating system: Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS (GNU/Linux 5.4.0-156-generic x86_64)
  • Browser + version: Brave / Edge / Chrome

Expected behavior:

  • Upgrade Zammad leaves all Agents as is.

Actual behavior:

  • Upgrading Zammad removed all Agents (didn’t touch Admin or Customers).

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Log on to server
  • Run sudo apt update
  • Run sudo apt upgrade
  • Log into Zammad → All open tickets in sidebar marked as “Not authorized”.
  • Go to Settings → Users → Agents: no users assigned as Agents.

It’s a relatively minor issue, just took a few minutes to realise wha the problem is.
If anyone else runs an upgrade and all of a sudden tickets are marked as “Not authorized”, check to make sure you still have Agents.

Thanks,
Oliver

Update:

Agents are periodically being removed. No server change has been made, other than upgrading to version 5.3.1-1676490295.d48e098b.bionic.

No idea how to fix it yet, looking into it.

The latest version is Zammad 6.0.x. You’re 5.3.1 version is outdated and subject to security issues.
Please update asap.

Please disregard this message. Turns out it was an issue with LDAP syncing.

Yes, my note regarding your outdated version still is correct though and (sorry to say) more important than your LDAP sync.

Hello MrGeneration,

I agree, upgrading to the latest version is important.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find documentation on how to upgrade to version 6 from an Ubuntu package installation, and most of the documentation on the docs website (https://docs.zammad.org/) still refers to the latest version as version 5.
If you could point me in the direction of instructions to upgrade to version 6 from an Ubuntu package install, I would be incredibly grateful.

huh?

https://docs.zammad.org/en/latest/install/update.html

You mean this example text that serves as mere orientation confuses you?

None of these commands are version specific. At all.

Yes, that confused me.

The instructions on that documentation page do not upgrade Zammad to version 6 on my server, they only upgrade to the latest version 5, but I should maybe open a separate topic about that.
