Different device location for user from the same location

This is my first post, so please tell me if something is not clear on my question. I searched the forums and googled awhile before writing here but didn’t seem to find something related to this issue. Thank you in advance!

  • Used Zammad version:

This is Zammad version 5.3.0-1669364938.83ce4433.focal

  • Used Zammad installation type: (source, package, docker-compose, …)
  • Operating system: Ubuntu 20.04
  • Browser + version: Firefox 107.0 (64-bit)

Expected behavior:

  • When i log in into my account i expect that the device be saved where it logged in but since the location is from the same country i expect to be the same.

Actual behavior:

  • Even though the logins are from the same location/country whenever there is a new login it is saved as logged in from another country.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Login with new session, same or different browser it does not matter.

I will attach two screenshot from two users to ilustrate the behaviour. All the connections are from the same country and no VPN was used during the logins.

That’s perfectly normal.
This can have several reasons, including:

  • you use actual different browsers on different machines (Yes, a different version to Zammad means different browser)
  • While you use the exact same browser, your source IP address does differ

Usually this happens due to an updated browser. Hovering the location name will show the IP.
