Scan attachments with ClamAV?

Hey guys,

are there any plans on implementing anti virus scans for attachments in the future?

I would imagine something similar to the Nextcloud app “files_antivirus” where each upload is scanned with ClamAV (unix socket). If there is a match, the system will delete this file (or restrict access to admins only) and/or send a notification.

This could be combined with a small admin menu with the option to always block certain files, e.g. by filename or extension.

Let me know what you think

This is currently not planned on our site.

Personally I think it is important to note when the system should scan the attachments? If you only mean for incoming E-Mails, this should be handled by your E-Mail-Server.

if you mean with every upload an agents adds an attachment, that’s something else.

Thanks for your reply.

I was talking about all files uploaded via web interface. As you said, mails and mail attachment should definitely be handled by mail servers or designated spam/malware gateways.
