Old closed tickets (before 4.1update) cannot be edited (StatusCode: 500)

Infos:

  • Used Zammad version: 4.1.x
  • Used Zammad installation type: package
  • Operating system: Ubuntu 18.04.5
  • Browser + version: Firefox 78.12.0

We recently upgraded to Zammad 4.1. Some (but not all) old closed tickets (from before the update) cannot be edited (for example by: creating notes, responding by e-mail, changing status) unless you click the Subscribe-Button beforehand. Otherwise you would get this error:

The error ID is always different.

After clicking the Subscribe-button, all the actions above can be performed without a problem. It is also possible to click Subscribe, then unsubscribe again to perform the actions.

Expected behavior:

  • Being able to perform actions on old tickets without having to subscribe to the ticket beforehand.

Actual behavior:

  • Some (but not all) old closed tickets (from before the update) cannot be edited (for example by: creating notes, responding by e-mail, changing status) unless you click the Subscribe-Button beforehand.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Find an old ticket from before the update to 4.1. Perform an action (like creating a note). Error occurs.

I’m just guessing here because error IDs are randomly generated and thus need to be looked up in your local log file…

My guess is that you’re affected by this issue:
