Microsoft 365: issue with outbound


  • Used Zammad version: 4.1.0-1628189510.ad8bc927.buster
  • Used Zammad installation type: package
  • Operating system: debian buster
  • Browser + version: Microsoft Edge 92.0.902.62

Expected behavior:

  • Green bullet on outbound

Actual behavior:

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • We configured the microsoft 365 connection as described in the wiki but after a while it started to give errors. Looking at the configuration we found the error as seen in the screenshot, mostly mentioning “Can’t use Channel::Driver::Smtp: #<Net::SMTPFatalError: 554 5.2.252 STOREDRV.Submission.Exception:SendAsDeniedException.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied”
  • We reconfigured the connection but that didn’t brought any correct result. It created a lot of new tickets and updated a few ones but the error was still there.


  • can we findout what causes the error?
  • can we clean the outgoing queue

Current state: situation seems to be fixed, unsure what happened but let’s blame Microsoft on this one.

Yep that’s coming from Microsoft.
SendAsDenied refers to the account in question not being allowed with the used mail address.

Usually, even after setting the mail address in question as allowed, this may take a fair potion of time (aka even hours in worst case).

So best would be disable temporarily and sleep a night over it. :slight_smile:
