Knowledge Base Permalinks to answers & categories

Hi there

We are updating our websites and were notified that some links were broken. It turned out that answers in our knowledge base were moved and hence the url was not valid anymore.

Reason:

  • Category links work with the format
    https://domain.tld/language/CATEGORY-ID.
  • But links to answers will break as they are dependent on their parent category
    https://domain.tld/language/CATEGORY-ID/ANSWER-ID.

Solution:
In order to avoid this issue in the future we would very much appreciate a permalink function / generator for categories (although already possible) and answers.

This is a feature request not technical assistance.
Sorry but what’s your expactation right now?

well I do not know honestly. I thought that we are not the only ones who have faced this issue… :wink:

we already have changed all the links to categories to the format from above: https://domain.tld/language/CATEGORY-ID as the CATEGORY-ID never changes.

But if you link an answer with https://domain.tld/language/CATEGORY-ID/ANSWER-ID and the CATEGORY-ID changes the answer can no longer be found.

This is not the most important issue but I assume it would be a “low hanging fruit” as the ANSWER-ID is unique and therefore resolvable.
